Tending Earth Grief: A Workshop

Weaving an ecosystem for the tending of Earth Grief

In this workshop, we will:
—Enter into conversation about the tending of Earth Grief in groups working in cultural and ecological transformation
—Work with Francis Weller's Five Gates of Grief to identify the areas of grief that are most alive for you
—Explore embodied practices for transforming Earth Grief into creative expression and nourishment for the sacred
—Map out a personal ecosystem of support for the tending of Earth Grief
—Weave together our personal maps into a collective ecosystem of support that can extend beyond the workshop

The intention is to leave the workshop carrying seeds to plant in your community for the tending of Earth Grief.
The Need for an Ecosystem of Support

In conversations with groups engaged in cultural and ecological transformation, I repeatedly witness people's longing for emotional support systems to process the collective grief they are carrying for the Earth.

This workshop is an invitation for groups to find their agency in creating practices for the tending of Earth Grief in both personal and community contexts.

Framed as an emergent inquiry into the creation of relational ecosystems, this workshop offers a space for deep listening in which your group can begin to expand its imagination of what it looks like to receive and give support for the tending of Earth Grief.

Earth Grief is a project of:

Shante’ Sojourn Zenith, a poet-philospher-ecologist-clown. Shante's core work as a GRIEF-tender is to invite people into re-memberings of earth and community on a collective level. She is in the process of weaving her many curiosities—ranging from clowning to grief rituals—into the creation of transformative gatherings that invite people to expand their cultural and ecological imaginations.
